I wouldn't recommend it to anyone until they are able to do a 4.1.2 (or above) jellybean upgrade. Right not everything seems to work very well except for Google internet. Internet searches are slower than dial up and doing the Google update not only doesn't resolve this issue but actually creates other problems. The system currently runs off of 4.1.1 but from what I've read the 4.1.2 is suppose to resolve the Google internet issues. Unfortunately the 9.7 Titanium does NOT have this update available and I don't know when or if it will be anytime soon. I don't remember my internet ever being this slow (even when I had dial up). Apps that go to web sites fly through the internet but the Google internet on this thing seems to take forever. I've had my tablet for over a month and am patiently waiting and praying for the 4.1.2 update to be available.

Until then I would be more likely to recommend people to NOT even consider purchasing any of the Titanium or Platinum tablets.

Re: Archos 101 XS review, Ultrabook-killing machine

"The ARM Powered Laptop is faster than an Intel Atom Netbook!
No. No it's not. That tablet doesn't even have anything like the fastest ARM processor available - Tegra 4 much? And of course a page without flash (hahaha, ultrabook beater my rear end) will load faster than one with it (duh), that doesn't mean that ARM processors have anything like the power of top spec Intel Core processors.

Re: Archos Platinum 8″, 9.7″ Retina, first Allwinner A31 Quad-core ARM Cortex-A7, 40% cheaper than Apple

Release date anybody?

Re: Archos TV Connect, $129 OMAP4470 HD webcam, Bluetooth remote, Archos Android set-top-box

I m raring to buy one. Now, that would be really cool, ... as this might require dual HDMI on back (in and out) to pull that off, I doubt the device setup can do it right not. If they are upgrading before going to market, then a delay to get it right, is a good idea for them. Of course, they should have a dev team working with Ubuntu, as I feel that the existing base of Linux TV software, could help then get an edge with such a device. See:
http : / / www dot linuxmce dot com - porting that to such a device, would be very interesting.
And, maybe easier for Archos to support over the longer term?

Re: Archos TV Connect, $129 OMAP4470 HD webcam, Bluetooth remote, Archos Android set-top-box

As Achos retracted their G9 (80 & turbo) update promise to Jelly Bean, how long do you expect this product to be supported? Will it run the Ubuntu install (that is in Alpha now)? If so, might have promise as then don't need to depend on Archos to support it (had three 80 G9's from Staples, each when updated from Android 3.x to 4.x lost touch with WiFi router that worked fine with Andriod 3.x.... terrible, each time there was firmware update, bought a new one from Staples only to give it back for refund due to fail of 4.x to work on WiFi when 3.x worked out of the box. Then, no Jelly Bean (might have been the speed fix that the first non-turbo 80G9 needed to get out of it's own way). Turbo works fine, but hassled by having to go to Archos store for even basic codecs for use in the USA, that should have been included on the device when you buy it, working out of the box (and also with any upgrades/updates as a supported feature too). So, with support, or lack of, like that... then only solution to keep Archos alive, is if G9's can live a longer life with an Ubuntu install... same thing with the TV connect (who really wants a product that will be not supported with updates for at least 3 years from purchase)? At lease with Ubuntu on TV connect, you can update OS yourself when the updates come out, and so, will not be put in the awkward position of spending money and then have to rely on the Archos folks (and learn that the updates they promise never will come.... that, maybe they expect you to buy a new device from them to get the latests firmware)? Not a good marketing plan. As then, who will buy an Achos device, after buying just one and getting burned? Again, will Ubuntu install on the TV connect, and the 80 G9 turbos (or older G9s)? Might be a fan of Archos then, as I can get codecs for Linux from sources, and not have to buy from Archos store, etc? Sorry to complain, just being honest.

Re: Archos TV Connect, $129 OMAP4470 HD webcam, Bluetooth remote, Archos Android set-top-box

TV Connect is delayed. Archoslounge.com announces that they spoted a facebook post from Archo stating:

——————
After the success that the TV connect had at CES our R&D teams have asked to have a little bit more time with it to add in some last bits and a bit more polish. I’m sorry to say that I do not yet have a revised release date for it.

——————

my bet is if 2 months after CES they still don't know when this will ship is that they found out there was no market, no retailer wanted to buy this and Archos decided to put the product on the back burner. they can't afford to loose more cash at this stage, they barely have 6 months worth of cash in front of them and stiill bleeding money like crazy...

Re: Archos announces $90 Million revenues for 1st half of 2012, here are my expectations for the second half

so the 101 XS was not available in september - it has actually barely been available during the full Q4... they did not refresh the dect phone, looks like they are killing it...
